As Senior Legal Counsel for RMIT Online within the Legal Service Group, you will: Provide a service focussed, pro-active point of contact for internal clients and external parties particularly RMIT Online as well as other RMIT portfolios as may be required (Supported Portfolios). Provide legal and strategic advice and support to the Supported Portfolios in the negotiation, drafting and development of agreements, policies, processes and all related legal documents required by the Supported Portfolios.
The role will also facilitate and support compliance with regulatory and reporting obligations, and technology systems to enable efficient and compliant functions such as contract and legal matter management. Develop and maintain a productive and positive working relationship with key portfolio stakeholders and their teams. Develop and deliver business focussed training and skills uplift programs to the Supported Portfolios on relevant and contemporary legal subjects as required by the Deputy General Counsel and Associate Director.
Maintain and enhance a suite of template documents for use within and by the Supported Portfolios. Manage the use of external legal advice as required, in accordance with external legal panels established by the Legal Services Group. Provide regular updates on legal matters relevant to the Supported Portfolios for publication through Legal Services Group communication channels.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:
- A current practising certificate as an Australian lawyer under the Legal Profession Uniform Law, and ideally 5+ PQE.
- Substantial experience working as a lawyer supporting business in a digital environment.
- Specific experience of commercial and innovative endeavours in the online B2B and/or online higher education sector is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders from a range of experience levels.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering business relevant and timely legal advice through quality engagement with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality in a sensitive manner with the ability to lead and influence others.
